How it is calculated

  1. Concentration = peptide in the vial ÷ diluent added. 10 mg in 2 ml gives 5 mg/ml.
  2. Volume = dose ÷ concentration. 0.25 mg at 5 mg/ml is 0.05 ml.
  3. Units = volume × units per millilitre. 0.05 ml on a U-100 syringe is 5 units.

The diluent does not change how much peptide you have — only the volume it is spread through. The same vial with more water gives a larger volume for the same dose, which is usually easier to measure accurately.
